PRINCE

Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA) 1989

PRINCE (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) and its successor PRINCE2 are a set of guidelines for organising and running projects produced as UK Government standards, and later adopted by other organisations. Initially developed by the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency, PRINCE incorporated ideas drawn mainly from pre-existing sources, particularly a project management method known as PROMPT that had been developed by Simpact Systems in 1975.

In 2009 the rights to PRINCE2 were transferred to AXELOS Ltd.
